MOTORIZED BARRELS


Motor barrels , these are not portable platers , but production units with an on-board motor assembly , instead of tank drive. B&P uses industry standard 56c frame tefc [or tenv for dc] motors coupled to cast iron heavy duty gearboxes for these applications. We have used this combination for many years and have found the gearboxes to be nearly indestructable for this application. Besides the common top mounted motor , with chain drive setup ,we have found ways to eliminate the chain drive , making a 100% gear drive assembly. This has distinct advantages,as the chain is the usual weak point in a motorized barrel system. Variable speed drives utilizing industry standard controls are also readily available. For those of you utilizing dc drive motors on your barrels, we have also succesfully applied custom built variable speed drives to these assemblies as well.
